Running WVP2100/WVP2000 behind a NAT using DMZ

This is an experimental idea, that doesn't work all the time. Use at your own risk. First you may like to consider trying if uPNP, as this is easier if it will work for you. The recommended solution is always to place the video on its own public IP address.

If your ADSL router supports half bridge mode, then these instructions aren't required.

Requirements

Instructions

  1. On your NAT, program the DMZ function to use the internal IP address that you have assigned for the videophone.
  2. Enable private IP mode. Go to Menu, and Information and type 6000 This is a hidden option to enable the private IP option.
  3. On the videophone, there will now be a new network type called "priv. ip". You need to setup the videophone with its internal IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. In the bottom box, you need to enter the external IP address of the NAT.

Notes

This doesn't work with all routers

This is only for H.323. Not SIP

This works by telling the videophone that it is behind a NAT. When setting up calls, the videophone will always `publish` its IP address as the external address.
